Damn - my cup has been confiscated already !

This indoor karting event was held at KartWorld in February 2003, and was attended by (amongst others) Ian (Bookworm), Kenny (Tango), Ron (Doofy), Sean (Scrumpy), Mike (I wish I could get MOH working so I could join MONI) and Geoff 'Bumper' Jarvis. The format of the event was that 30 drivers were split up into 3 groups of 10, and each group had 15 laps practice. Then each group went out again for 15 laps of timed qualifying. Ian set the early pace in Group A by putting a fast lap in of 39.6 seconds. Group B was led by Kenny with a lap time of 39.1 seconds.

The top 10 drivers then went in to the A Final, the next 10 into the B Final, and the last 10 into the C Final.
Ron held the MONI flag aloft in the C Final by gaining 2nd place, not to mention beating Biffa (a colleague of Ron's that is well known for his controversial overtaking moves). The B Final saw a good show from Sean, as this was his first ever drive in a kart. He was unable to pick up a podium finish, but did well nonetheless. Mike finished 3rd, but due to a mix-up on the day, was not awarded the medal. This has now been resolved.

When it came to the A Final, MONI led from the front, with Kenny and Ian taking 1st and 2nd place on the grid. Ian got alongside Kenny at the 1st corner, and he even bumped the back of Kenny's kart as they took the first bridge. This was as close as things got, however, as Kenny put his foot to the floor and slowly pulled away for a well deserved victory.
Both Kenny and Ian received a trophy and some bubbly along with their medals, and as you can see from the pictures, the trophies were a little larger than usual !

Credit should also go to Rob and Ian, who made the arrangements for drivers to attend from Marconi and CR&A.
